| For teachers who are looking for work. | |
| I don't know to speak Korean so will there be someone I can call if I need help when I arrive at the airport in Korea: | |
| Almost all Koreans have cell phones, and your recruiters will as well. Once you meet a driver from TOS at the airport, he will call each of your recruiters to tell them you arrived safety. If you need help again during your stay in Korea, you can contact your recruiters, but for general information such as English movies and transportation information you can call 1330, which is run by the Korean government. | |
| Will I have a place to stay when I arrive before work, or will I need to book a hotel? | |
| Usually the school will provide housing from the day you start working, but it,s often flexible. You should book a guest house if you arrive in Korea earlier than your start date. | |
| I do not travel often, what documents do I need to have on me at all times (driver's license, passport, etc...)? | |
| Passport and Alien Registration(ARC) would be enough. | |
| Can you give me a general list of what will happen once I arrive in Korea? | |
| A driver from TOS will meet you at the airport and will either transport you directly to your school or to your apartment. A staff member might be there to meet you or else the landlord or driver will give you a key. You will get a phone call from the school the next morning and you'll go and meet the school staff. Training at your school could last a few hours or a few days dependent upon your school's policies. If you have any questions, feel free to send us an email at wjtos@wjtos.com | |
| For teachers who are teaching in Korea at this moment. | |
| My working visa expires when my contract ends, do I need to make a vias run? | |
| ATeachers who wanted to sign a different contract in Korea needed to go outside of Korea, for another E2 visa, but policy has changed for public school teachers. Teachers who move to another public school for another year don,t need to make a visa run, as they now can transfer the visa sponsor, with the relevant documents, from the previous school to the new school at the immigration office nearest to your new school.
For more information about this, please refer to the following link. Please note that this is the case for teachers who are moving to another public school. If you're moving to a private language institute, you will have to make a visa run to get another E2 visa. |
|
| Can I start looking for work before my current job ends? | |
| Yes, you can. Lots of teachers start looking for another position before their current job ends. There¡¯s nothing illegal about this, but if your school wants you to stay longer, you might feel uncomfortable. However, make sure that you understand that you can only start the visa process after finishing your contract with your current school. | |
| If I need to return home before I start work again, how long I stay out of Korea before hiring season ends? Does this affect my visa process? | |
| Once you return your alien card at the airport, your visa will be cancelled automatically. That means you are no longer E2 visa sponsored by your school. You can stay out of Korea for as long as you like, but you have to start the visa process over again.
